Amy Ellen Anderson (mezzo-soprano)
"This is an excellent show. The songs are classics, the arrangements for orchestra first-rate, and the performers polished and professional... the combination of fine singing and exceptional performance material makes this a wonderful choice for a symphonic pops show."

L to R: Nan Hughes, Kathy McMillan, and Amy Ellen Anderson

Born of a friendship forged high in the Rocky Mountains and based on a love of great music, chocolate, and hiking, Times Three uniquely blends sophisticated elegance with an easy, winning charm. Members Amy Ellen Anderson (Midwestern brunette), Nan Hughes (East Coast blond), and Kathy McMillan (West Coast redhead) have been singing together for 15 years, giving them a charismatic chemistry that has universal audience appeal.
Unlike many other vocal groups, Times Three showcases each singer's splendid solo voice and unique performance style alongside duets and trios to highlight their beautiful harmonies. This extraordinary versatility is made possible by the group's own arrangements - most of which have been commissioned specifically by and for Times Three. These include works by such noted arrangers as Wally Harper, Earl Mays, Frederick Fryer, and Craig Bohmler. Because Times Three owns and provides all orchestral scores and parts, there are no rental fees. Scores and parts arrive on time and ready to play.
Times Three can present full-length, scripted symphonic pops shows with stories, humor, and audience interaction or a short selection of songs specifically designed to fit in with a larger production. The trio is happy to serve as the evening's hosts, to interact onstage with the host conductor; or simply to sing as part of the performance.
Their popular program I'll Be Seeing You: Times Three Sings the Songs of World War II weaves together stories and songs of the time, uniquely tailored to the particular community in which the performance takes place. The trio does careful research and then recounts local history and anecdotes as part of the concert, inevitably leading to an even greater audience connection. Wearing gowns inspired by the 1940s, the ladies of Times Three evoke the era without appearing stylized. The songs they sing are tender, humorous and heartrending, moving nostalgic older audiences to tears and laughter while creating new fans out of younger listeners for music that is rich, rewarding, and thoroughly unforgettable.
Other programs Times Three can present include:
Star-Spangled Spectacular, in which the trio joins the orchestra in an uplifting salute to veterans with a performance of patriotic tunes and songs celebrating the American spirit
Movie Magic, the trio's valentine to the great songs and musical themes of Hollywood's legendary Golden Age and beyond.
Equally at home in more intimate settings, Times Three has performed on cabaret stages from New York City to Banff, Canada. Featuring the works of Irving Berlin, Harold Arlen, Frank Loesser, Jerome Kern and Kurt Weill among others, the cabaret performances allow these three seasoned artists a chance to shine individually and in different pairings as they reinterpret classic jazz, pop and Broadway tunes in their own inimitable style. The immediate, spontaneous exchange with the cabaret audience provides a unique showcase for the lively personalities of the trio. Performed in an intimate, black box setting with piano accompaniment and an expanded repertoire ranging from sly humor to ballads and torch songs, these performances are sophisticated, witty, and playful - and always entertaining!
Times Three has also wowed guests at major corporate gatherings, including world financial leaders at the Asian Pacific Economic Council, and has been the highlight of many private parties, performing with solo piano or jazz combo accompaniment. By calling upon its extensive symphonic and cabaret repertoire, Times Three uniquely tailors performances to specific events, whether it is honoring a special individual, celebrating a company success, or tying into the theme of a corporate convention.
